These cute kids are my niece and nephew. My SIL let me take them out and practice photographing them. One of my weaknesses right now is photography in the evening outdoors. And unfortunately...Arizona sun (even in the winter) can be pretty unforgiving so usually you get your best shots in the early evening as the sun is setting. Well it was super cloudy this day and I think I bumped my ISO up a bit much and a lot of my photos had a bit to much pixelation for my taste (hense the almost painted look to fix them). But really... you can't go wrong with these cute kids!
Quick side note: I realize some photographers edit there photos to look very painted so I mean no offense. I think I fall in between styles. I do love a good straight out of camera shot but I like my pictures with a little extra... just not to much. Just my style.

Meggie! I love your pictures, and I was sitting here reading about these when Adam leaned over and said that he thought you could definitely be professional, that you had good depth of field and good definition.. He suggested perhaps editing out the reflection of you in the eyes of the closeups, as a neat effect but perhaps better without that figure in the eyes... We are both fans, keep up the great work! :)
OMG! That is so funny because I was just getting ready to post to Megan about the reflection in the eyeballs! That always seems to happen with Daniel b/c he eyes are so big. Does it come down to editing Meg or is it more of the angle?
That's funny! I've been trying to figure that out too. Not the editing part, but the camera part. If I use a zoomed lens for close ups I'm usually out of the eye... but if the light is low (like in these shots.. it was super cloudy). I need to bust out my lense with a higher f-stop and it is only a 50mm so I have to be pretty close... but this is why I'm practicing.
